Posing

Finally almost done with this weird sculpt I started and then just started practicing new techniques on. Not sure if I love it or not but I’m gonna finish it at least, hah. We’ll see if anyone even likes it once I’m finished =P

Saturday Sculpting

Well, slow weekend ahead of me! Feels strange to not have freelance to work on at the moment. A personal sculpt is going alright but I’m at the point where I don’t know if I like it or not. I suppose putting in a few more hours couldn’t hurt!

Feels good, man.

I have to say that one of the most satisfying things about working freelance is after the project feels like it’s spiraling out of control and all you can do to make it stop is to finish, to complete the assignment at hand and then what do you get to do? Clean your computer, organize your emails, and finally put away the laundry that has been piling up. It’s clean of course, but it just seems easier during the week to let it wait to be put away until my projects are finished. It’s that day today and it always feels good to kind of.. hit a reset button and start planning for my next freelance gig.

3D miniatures

As I fall farther into the rabbit hole of 3D miniature printing I learn more and more. I think Zbrush artists in this field are really MacGyvers, for Zbrush being such an organic tool we’re forced in many ways and many times a day to achieve very exact work for plugs and for fitting 2 pieces together after printing. I find my workflow between Maya and Zbrush growing even more symbiotic as the days wear on and find myself using Maya less and less without Zbrush open. Will I even need Maya soon? I uv, retopo, and texture using other programs, and render using Marmoset Toolbag for game models. Weird to think about! A year and a half ago I had never touched Zbrush.

Anyways, I’m just really glad I am getting such a variety of 3D printing work, every client is different, every job is COMPLETELY different and each experience makes me even faster than I was for the one before. Cheers!

Let the monsters roll!

Well, I’m on a monster kick because of the game TERA. It’s a great source for inspiration and I really find that making monsters that don’t have any real purpose is a great way to just test out new techniques in Zbrush and work on my speed. My latest features a human face, 5 scorpion stingers, and human arms as legs with something for feet (I haven’t decided yet) but hopefully it looks intimidating when I finish it? I guess we’ll find out in a few days.

If it turns out well I’ll retopo and turn it into a game model for my reel!

Finished a sculpt!

Well, good and long day. Woke up at 3am but that’s besides the point! I finished posing and rendering a BAM I sculpted. Also made headway on a new sculpting project for a client. Now it’s time to clean up my desktop (there are files uuuuuuuuuvverywhere)

Friday Freelance

Well.. Today I’m finishing up a few things and then emailing clients to see about new work that needs to be done! I have time off and if no one needs work it’s time to tackle some personal projects or start thinking about a demo reel. I really want a full time job in the next 5 months or a little more than that. I guess we’ll see what I have time for!

Need work done? EMAIL ME!

The Realm of Plugs

What does that even mean? Hah, I wish i could really explain. Working with 3d printing means that you often have to adapt what you know into what someone envisions. Today for instance I tore a chunk out of someone’s face and replaced it with a square plug and then made multiple face mounted pieces of armor to stick on. Kind of an awesome idea, hope that it works once it’s printed though!

I have 3 weeks off! time for art!!! HIRE ME FOR FREELANCE! I’m fast and love the work!

Final Drawing

Well, I got caught up in my school work for the past week because I neglected to notice how quickly the end was approaching! I just finished my final charcoal drawing of the semester and I’m pretty excited to be done with traditional aspects of my major. Nothing against them I think they are important and many aspects I can barely achieve on paper I use frequently in 3D.

Now I have 3 weeks off so it’s time to crank out some freelance, if you have a project you need done let me know! I’m all work for the next few weeks and stoked about it, it’s time to update my CV, try to upload some more work to my site (much of it has been under NDA’s as of late) and to finish a few personal projects that have been lingering about.

organizing my life!

Ok so times have been busy and my organizing has gone downhill a bit. That’s NEVER a good thing, so it’s time to polish off some projects and find a new way to keep things organized when everything becomes hectic. But first! Freelance work
