Check out this amazing painting on the 3D print of Kane Hodder that I designed in Zbrush! Painting done by Deconte Figures and Collectibles! they are at Monster-Mania right now tearing it up! Check out their work, it’s amazing stuff! So stoked to see something I made in 3D as a real figure, fully painted and so well done at that!!

Demo Reel
It’s time to update my portfolio and demo reel so I can hopefully find a job in the fall up in Boston! My first model I’m tweaking is my most recent, I’m basically working my way backwards in time and tweaking each model for up to 3 days before I get it ready to render. Just to help bring up all of the quality of the pieces throughout my portfolio.
This is the first tweak I’m doing, I finished tweaking the diffuse and now I’m working on fixing a few errors in the normal maps. Hair color might need to be changed because it’s so dark.. We’ll see though.
Action Figures!
Today I finally finished my first fully articulated action figure for freelance with Neal Deconte and his company. Check out his website! I separated my most complex sculpt ever into arms, legs, joints, and other things of that nature. Took about 5 hours and crashed my entire computer 3 times due to the complexity of the piece. I’m all done now and it feels great!!
Now I need to work on other freelance I have at the moment that I’m drastically far behind on. Time to pray to the 3d gods to grant me speed and accuracy in my work! Hah.
School Finals
Summer semester is donezo! I made my final character sheets that I think are definitely up to par, wrote a 4 page paper about how some of my art was considered propaganda in China and was cut from a parade it was going to be used in.
I just finished up a sculpture of my first fully articulated action figure and I’m working on some other freelance and some really really exciting stuff soon, too! Now that school is done I’m going to start my demo reel, resume, and portfolio so I can hopefully land a job up in Boston! The promise land… haha. Cheers!!
Module 13
Today I am on like.. day 17 of working on a sculpture of the lead singer for a metal band. It’s getting so detailed and complex I’m beginning to worry about my computer handling it.. I thought up a new strategy for working on miniatures I want to try on my next project. it’s more of a divide and conquer strategy than an overall build up like most Zbrush sculptures do. Then once an area is finished I can be done with it, put it away and work on a clean slate on another. I think it’ll work great.. Getting some good freelance gigs and in about 3 weeks I start work on my demo reel and resume and I’m really stoked to see how it all goes! Time for a drink, it’s been a long 17 days working on this piece.
Module 12
Module 12 has come and gone. I got great freelance news today, a current project is coming along! (although it’s getting overwhelming, yet rewarding?) Here’s my updated axe weapon, and ammo box I’m making for school. Tweaking, tweaking, and some more tweaking has been done! ETA to creating my new demo reel/portfolio is about 4 weeks!!!
Module 11
Well.. summer semester is scooting by fast, I’m in a mid-semester lull and just don’t seem to care. It’s pretty easy to get good grades at the moment, just remember to do all your homework as SOON as it gets assigned and you’ll prosper in a college environment! Wish I knew that 5 years ago during my Bachelor’s degree… Anyways, here’s my work for module 11. I created a new prop to texture, did a zbrush sculpt for some damage detail, and now I’m texturing in photoshop. here’s an in-game screen shot of my new prop, a machine gun ammo box.
